ABOUT THIS PROJECT: The overall mission it to provide a place for Slinger High School students and Slinger Area community members to share what they've researched regarding historical and cultural aspects of the Slinger area in a way that's accessible to the community. The site you are looking at is the music category within the larger Slinger Area History/Culture Project website and was created during the 2013-2014 school year. The Slinger Area History/Culture Project is a direct result of a grant provided by the Wisconsin Teachers of Local Culture, which is funded by the National Endowment of the Arts and the State of Wisconsin. During the process of showcasing parts of the historical and cultural identity of the Slinger area, we hope students will not only learn more about the history and culture of the area, but gain important experience in collaboration, inquiry, observation, communication, documentation, writing, photography, art, and design that might help them in college, career, or as citizens. We are gradually adding stories and details to the music history/culture aspect. Special thanks to all who have contributed so far.
